Friday night was Prom Night! And it rained. I got the opportunity to be the "backdrop" photographer for Lumen Christi's prom and I didn't want to pass it up. The only thing is, I am normally a natural light photographer. So, I immediately called up my friend Mark Dean of Overland Studios to see if he would be willing to be my light guy. He was available, and the whole thing worked out perfectly. Not only did Mark set up the lights I needed, he offered a sense of comfort and motivation when I was feeling out of my element.

I recently read an article about a photographer big among celebrities. She talked about how she became a photographer, but how she never learned all the equipment. She said she always hired the necessary crew based on what she was working on. Her focus remained on relationship building and what she was good at. I second that notion! I am every grateful to Mark for helping me remain calm and my subjects well lit. And I am grateful to Lumen for the opportunity! What a fun night!
